Upstate NY Man Air Lifted to Syracuse After Herkimer Stabbing
Herkimer Police have arrested a homeless man on charges that he seriously stabbed a local man on a remote trail just outside the village. Police say on Sunday at 12:15 am, officers were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at the “Point” which is on a trail at the end of Kings Rd., just outside the village. Dispatchers advised officers that the victim would be yelling as he was quite a distance down the trail. While searching the area on foot and following the yells for help by the victim, officers located the victim who had sustained a stab wound to his lower back. Police tended to the wound until EMS arrived at the remote location. Due to the location and the fact that the suspect had not been located, Herkimer Fire Department and MOVAC were escorted into the scene by Officers. Once the victim had been removed by MOVAC, he was flown by Mercy Flight to a hospital in Syracuse.

Utica man pleads guilty to charges of distributing, possessing and receiving child pornography
UTICA — A Utica man has pleaded guilty to four counts of distributing, possessing, and receiving child pornography. Dustin Smith, 30, of Utica, admitted that he had been convicted of sexual abuse in the first degree in an Oneida County court in 2013, and then in 2022, while on parole, he sent, received and posessed thousands of images of child porngraphy on a cellphone, according to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of New York. Smith admitted that he used the cellphone to exchange child pornography with at least two identified children.

Utica Sex Offender Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Charges; Had Thousands of Images and Videos on Cellphone
UTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) -- A Utica man has pleaded guilty to a four-count indictment charging him with distributing, receiving and possessing child pornography. Dustin Smith, 30, admitted that he has a 2013 conviction for sexual abuse, and that in 2022, while under parole supervision, possessed a cellphone that he used to send, receive and possess "thousands of images and videos of child pornography," according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

New York State Police conducted a raid in rural Herkimer County on Wednesday which resulted in the arrest of a Salisbury woman on drug charges.
