4 Hospitalized, Horse Killed in Horse and Buggy Accident in Deerfield
A serious accident involving a Ford Focus and a horse and buggy have left four people hospitalized and a horse dead. Oneida County Sheriff's deputies were first called to the scene of a serious accident just after 7:30 p.m. Monday. Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Maola Local Dairies Awarded $2 Million Sustainability Grant

Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, in partnership with Maola Local Dairies (Maola), has been awarded a $2 million grant through the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation’s (NFWF) Chesapeake Innovative Nutrient and Sediment Reductions (INSR) Grant Program. The project, titled Sustainable Dairy Partnerships and Corporate Investment in the Chesapeake Bay on Maola farms using flexible funding to advance on-farm sustainability. The project will install high-impact agricultural and manure management practices across 500 acres. The grant, which will support family-owned dairy farms in Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia, brings an exciting new corporate supporter to dairy sustainability, Starbucks.
Upstate NY Man Air Lifted to Syracuse After Herkimer Stabbing
Herkimer Police have arrested a homeless man on charges that he seriously stabbed a local man on a remote trail just outside the village. Police say on Sunday at 12:15 am, officers were dispatched to a report of a stabbing at the “Point” which is on a trail at the end of Kings Rd., just outside the village. Dispatchers advised officers that the victim would be yelling as he was quite a distance down the trail. While searching the area on foot and following the yells for help by the victim, officers located the victim who had sustained a stab wound to his lower back. Police tended to the wound until EMS arrived at the remote location. Due to the location and the fact that the suspect had not been located, Herkimer Fire Department and MOVAC were escorted into the scene by Officers. Once the victim had been removed by MOVAC, he was flown by Mercy Flight to a hospital in Syracuse.
