Former Upstate New York Executive Admits to Mail Fraud
Kevin Harrington, a 50-year-old resident of Oneonta, New York, has pled guilty to charges of mail fraud. The federal indictment against Harrington included two counts of mail fraud, as confirmed by United States Attorney Carla B. Freedman and Special Agent in Charge Craig L. Tremaroli of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Utica woman stabbed, hospitalized early Saturday
UTICA — A Utica woman is accused of stabbing another woman multiple times, sending her to the hospital very early Saturday. Utica police said Janay Hymes, 28, got into a fight with another woman in the 1400 block of Whitesboro Street at about 2 a.m. Saturday. Police said Hymes pulled out an object and stabbed the other woman three times in the head and torso. The victim suffered non-life-threatening wounds and was taken by a private vehicle to Wynn Hospital.
Utica man’s loaded firearm confiscated at Syracuse airport checkpoint
Syracuse, N.Y. -- A Utica man’s gun was confiscated at the Syracuse airport Tuesday when he tried to get on a plane with the loaded weapon, federal officials said. TSA officers intercepted the firearm after it was detected in the man’s traveler’s carry-on items at the checkpoint, according to the Transportation Security Administration. The .45 caliber handgun was loaded with eight bullets, including one in the chamber, officials said.

Moss, 24, of Newton Road passed away on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at the Berkshire Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 14th on Lebanon Mountain. Born on April 17th, 2000 in Pittsfield, Nate was the son of Amy Moss Goodermote and for the past 18 years the “son” of Steve Goodermote of Stephentown. Nate was a lifelong resident of the Valley and was educated in the Stephentown and Berlin Schools. Nate worked side by side with Steve in the Steve Goodermote Contracting Company with the plan to take over the business in the future. Nate enjoyed rides on his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and hiking. His greatest enjoyment was going to work every day with “Dad” Steve.
