Stephentown – Nathaniel D. Moss, 24, of Newton Road passed away on Wednesday, July 17th, 2024 at the Berkshire Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, July 14th on Lebanon Mountain. Born on April 17th, 2000 in Pittsfield, Nate was the son of Amy Moss Goodermote and for the past 18 years the “son” of Steve Goodermote of Stephentown. Nate was a lifelong resident of the Valley and was educated in the Stephentown and Berlin Schools. Nate worked side by side with Steve in the Steve Goodermote Contracting Company with the plan to take over the business in the future. Nate enjoyed rides on his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and hiking. His greatest enjoyment was going to work every day with “Dad” Steve.

Catharine Annie Jackson Ward of Oneonta went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 22, 2024, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Debra and Robert. She was born February 22, 1932, in Walton. She was the last surviving child of Percy and Annie Wolf Jackson. Catharine was a member of Elm Park United Methodist Church and a member of The United Methodist Women. She graduated from Delaware Literary Institute in 1949 (Franklin Central School) where she played the bass drum in the marching band and was prom queen. She also graduated from Delhi College. She worked at Camp Milling Company, Walton and later went to work at Delhi College, from which she retired in 1993. She worked very hard at bettering her civil service grade and retired as an Administrative Assistant. She was very proud that she was chosen for the CSEA Award for exceptional Merit in 1989. She was still in contact with Mark Peel and Darnell Cole and remembered them as very kind bosses.

The New York Mills Bible Reading Marathon returned for its fifth year last week. The Bible Reading Marathon was held from July 14-20 at 12 West Gilman Street, adjacent to the First Congregational United Church of Christ. Dozens of readers took turns throughout the week to page through the Bible from start to finish. Patricia Bruschetti, 88, of Canajoharie, NY, passed away on July 23, 2024. The family will receive family and friends from 4:00 to 7:00 on Friday, July 26th, 2024, at Houghtaling and Hanley, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A funeral service will occur on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery.

Her commitment to our organization will significantly enhance the band’s ability to continue bringing music and joy to the city of Johnstown and beyond. Dr. Raneri’s contribution will directly benefit our efforts in promoting music education, organizing community concerts, and maintaining our beloved band. The Johnstown Citizens’ Band was formed in 1908 and is in its 117th year of performing summer concerts on Friday nights. The 35 musicians are from the local area and present six concerts on the Charles Jenner Band Shell, built in memory of their former conductor.
