Full Johnstown council not present for 61% of meetings since 2022
JOHNSTOWN — Fewer than half of Johnstown Common Council meetings since 2022 were fully attended by lawmakers. All five representatives were present at 14 out of 36 meetings dating to the beginning of Mayor Amy Praught’s administration, according to a recent data crunch from the Daily Gazette Family of Newspapers.

In Johnstown, longtime Johnstown resident Dr. Marietta Raneri has generously donated $25,000 to support the Johnstown Citizens’ Band. Her commitment to our organization will significantly enhance the band’s ability to continue bringing music and joy to the city of Johnstown and beyond. Dr. Raneri’s contribution will directly benefit our efforts in promoting music education, organizing community concerts, and maintaining our beloved band. The Johnstown Citizens’ Band was formed in 1908 and is in its 117th year of performing summer concerts on Friday nights. The 35 musicians are from the local area and present six concerts on the Charles Jenner Band Shell, built in memory of their former conductor. The family will receive family and friends from 4:00 to 7:00 on Friday, July 26th, 2024, at Houghtaling and Hanley, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A funeral service will occur on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery.

Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Maola Local Dairies Awarded $2 Million Sustainability Grant

Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, in partnership with Maola Local Dairies (Maola), has been awarded a $2 million grant through the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation’s (NFWF) Chesapeake Innovative Nutrient and Sediment Reductions (INSR) Grant Program. The project, titled Sustainable Dairy Partnerships and Corporate Investment in the Chesapeake Bay on Maola farms using flexible funding to advance on-farm sustainability. The project will install high-impact agricultural and manure management practices across 500 acres.
