UTICA — A Rome man has been charged as part of a shots fired investigation in Utica from earlier this month, according to the Utica Police Department. Police said Alex Smith, 24, fired several gunshots in the 1400 block of Lenox Avenue on July 6. Multiple spent shell casings were found in the area.

SCHOHARIE — The Capital Region BOCES Early Childhood Education program is moving to the Schoharie campus this school coming year, according to a recent press release. The program, initially started in 2022 at the Career and Technical Education Center on BOCES Albany campus, will focus on teaching high school students the fundamentals of child development, childhood education, different curriculums, management skills and how to work in an educational environment, according to the release. BOCES teacher Jessica Quackenbush has been in charge of the program since its inception last two years ago, and will continue to lead it at its new home in Schoharie Elementary School, according to the release.
