Shoe giveaway for older adults around Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — A healthcare organization is holding an event to disperse shoes to those in need.

Beginning at noon on July 16, Molina Healthcare will give 100 older adults a pair of anti-fall shoes, according to a release. The shoes were created to be easy for individuals to use for putting on and fastening.

According to Molina, they have both anti-slip and anti-skid features to help assist older adults.

“Fall prevention and well-fitting shoes are essential for seniors, a population in which almost 80% have foot problems, with inappropriate footwear being a major underlying cause,” said Molina.

Although the advanced registration for the event has concluded, Molina says there are still over 40 pairs remaining. They will be distributed on a “first-come, first-served basis.”
