A 3-vehicle collision involving a Springfield Township ambulance has left one person dead.

According to the Springfield Twp. Fire Department, five people were involved in the crash involving the ambulance, a Toyota Sienna van and a Hyundai Santa Fe.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, both the Santa Fe and Sienna were traveling south on South Burnett Road when the car slowed for the ambulance.

The van struck the car from behind and then crossed over the center line and hit the northbound ambulance head-on.

The Sienna driver was later identified as Eleni Whitt, 30, of Springfield.

The driver and passenger inside the Santa Fe were treated on the scene for minor injuries.

The Springfield Twp. medic and her passenger were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a precaution, authorities transferred the medical supplies to a different ambulance.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
