KENTUCKY ( FOX 56 ) — Luck struck for a Springfield, Tennessee, man on a Casino Nights Kentucky Lottery scratch-off ticket.

Jody, who requested his last name not be shared, brought home a lump sum of $700,000 after winning the top $1 million prize, per the Kentucky lottery.

He brought his father to claim their winnings on June 10. His father had purchased the ticket on June 8  at Adairville Market, located at 135 South Main Street.

Jody’s father told lottery officials he began scratching the ticket at the store.

“I said [to the clerk], ‘If I hit this million dollars, I ain’t ever eating bologna again,’” his father said.

According to lottery officials, the top $1 million prize was revealed within the first couple of rows, where all three key symbols matched.

“It kind of shocked me,” the father said.

He told lottery officials that he immediately called Jody when he realized he’d won.

He went, ‘You’ll never believe what I just did,’” Jody said. “And, I said, ‘What?’ He said, ‘We just won $1,000,000!’ I was sitting there thinking, yeah, right, I don’t believe you!”

The pair planned to travel to Lottery Headquarters in Louisville on the following Monday. Jody told officials that the win didn’t change the rest of his weekend, so he decided to mow the yard.

“You go home and become debt-free,” he said. “Houses are paid off. Cars paid off, done.  We will be bill-free probably next week.”

As for Jody, he said that he plans on investing the money.

Adairville Market will receive a check for $7,000 for selling the winning ticket, lottery officials said.
