SPRINGFIELD, NJ -- Administrator John Bussiculo updated the Springfield Township Committee on planned developments at the sites formerly occupied by Scotty's Pub & Comedy Cove and Bank of America at the governing body's July 17 meeting.

Bussiculo said that he, along with Mike Mistretta, a representative of Springfield's township planning firm Harvard Consultants, met with the developers who will be building on the Scotty's property at 597 Morris Ave. earlier this month.

"We are just waiting for final drawings," Bussiculo said. "We asked them to make some changes. We also met (regarding) the Bank of America (site), and we have asked them to get us new drawings because we didn't like the density."

Bussiculo said that he and the planner told that developer "that he's got to cut it down to no more than 30 units. When that gets done we will bring that to (the Township Committee) to look at."

Springfield Deputy Mayor Harris Laufer asked Bussiculo, "So Scotty's and B of A will come back to us when they have satisfied you?"

Bussiculo said, "Scotty's will be first. B of A will be somewhere down the road. We're in the very early stages with (the Bank of America site). Scotty's is pretty close to being ready to come back to (the Township Committee for review)."

A three-story building proposed with 30 units, all age-restricted, has been proposed for the Scotty's site. The new development would be strictly residential, with no mixed uses.
