HENRY COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Middle Tennessee arson investigation resulted in the arrest of a Kentucky man earlier this week.

At the request of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) said its special agents started investigating a suspicious fire on Monday, July 22 that destroyed a home along Nordan Drive in Springville.

Over the course of the investigation, authorities said they determined 59-year-old Forrest John Johnson, of Morgantown, Kentucky, was responsible for starting the fire.

According to officials, the TBI arrested Johnson in Kentucky on Tuesday, July 23 and charged him with arson. Then, on Thursday, July 25, he was extradited to Tennessee. As of Friday, July 26, he is being held in the Henry County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

“The charges and allegations referenced in this release are merely accusations of criminal conduct and not evidence. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and convicted through due process of law,” the TBI said in a Friday statement.
