Putnam Affordable Pet Treatment Event Monday
The Friends of Cookeville and Putnam County Animals are hosting an event to provide affordable treatments and screenings for pets in the community. The events are called H.E.A.R.T.S which stands for Helping Every Animal Receive Treatments and Services. The event will consist of treatments such as vaccines and lab work. President of the organization Sarah Hawlik said they are hosting the event as they saw a need for affordable pet care in the community.

The Society of Saint Andrews gathered a group of volunteers Friday to visit Baxter farm to rescue waste food. Waste food consists of crops that are thrown away because they did not sell or have imperfections. Society of Saint Andrews Program Coordinator Cecelie Eiler said the food being thrown away can be eaten by people who battle hunger.

Two-sport Summertown standout Grayson Burleson is transferring to district rival Loretto for his senior year, Loretto basketball coach Greg Tipps confirmed Friday. Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster, Crossville Mayor RJ Crawford and House Speaker Cameron Sexton joined Whisper Aero Co-founders, Mark Moore and Ian Villa, for the official ribbon cutting of Whisper Aero’s Flight Test Center. Construction on the 8,000 square foot hangar at the Crossville Memorial Airport began last July. The new facility was made possible through a $1.2 million appropriation from the State of Tennessee and features a high bay area for testing and office space for onsite engineering.
