Construction will close part of Indiana 61 in Pike County next week

Road work is coming to Indiana 61 in the Spurgeon area starting next week, according to a news release sent by Indiana Department of Transportation officials.

INDOT officials stated beginning or around July 15, crews will close Indiana 61 in Pike County just north of County Road 900 South.

The road will be closed for a thin deck overlay project to the bridge over the South Fork Patoka River. It is expected to take a week to complete, depending on the weather.

The detour for this project is Indiana 68 to Indiana 57 to Indiana 64. Local traffic will have access to the point of closure, INDOT said.
