Man drowns Friday after wading into St. Charles County retention pond
ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — A man drowned after wading into a neighborhood retention pond Friday morning in unincorporated St. Charles County. Cpl. Barry Bayles with the St. Charles County Police Department said people who were fishing called 911 after seeing a man walk into a retention pond in the Walnut Creek Subdivision and never come out.

St. Charles County man drowned Friday morning, police say
ST. CHARLES COUNTY — A man, 44, who police say had “special needs,” accidentally drowned in a neighborhood pond near Weldon Spring Friday morning. Emergency services responded to a potential drowning call around 8 a.m. in a retention pond near Walnut Hill Court. Police identified the man as Darran Lamon Hutson.
Library board plans for community listening sessions regarding proposed branch closures
Protesters gathered outside the newly renovated Spencer Road library branch Tuesday night. Holding signs that say “Save our Libraries,” the demonstrators were calling for officials at the St. Charles City-County Library district to not move forward with a plan they proposed in May. If passed, the Kisker Road and McClay branches would close by June 30. The Deer Run branch would close after renovations are completed at the Middendorf Kredell Branch in O’Fallon.
Label maker opens new plant in St. Charles
Omni Systems, a Mayfield, Ohio-based label manufacturer, has opened a new 64,000-square-foot facility in St. Charles following an estimated $3 million buildout. Omni, with its new St. Charles facility at 411 Fountain Lakes Blvd., plans to grow its local workforce to 100 employees as it seeks to increase its annual revenue to $300 million in the next five years. Omni, which currently has 30 local employees, entered the St. Louis market last year through an acquisition.
