Affton teen’s memoir chronicles journey from Kabul to St. Louis
Sara Mosavi, a 17-year-old immigrant from Kabul, Afghanistan, and a 2024 graduate of Affton High School, is set to publish her memoir “Traveling With the Wind.”. The book, written while she was in school at Affton, details her experiences as an immigrant teenager. Mosavi is raising funds with the help of her mentor to self-publish the book before starting college at Saint Louis University in the fall. GM Signs Landmark Solar Power Deal for Three Assembly Plants
As part of an ongoing push around renewable energy, we’re announcing a 15-year renewable energy purchase agreement with NorthStar Clean Energy for three GM assembly plants. NorthStar’s Newport Solar project in Newport, Arkansas, will support the electricity needs of GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly and Lansing Grand River Assembly in Michigan, and the Wentzville Assembly site in Missouri by adding renewable energy directly to the grid we source from. The Newport project has a capacity of 180 megawatts. NorthStar Clean Energy is a unit of CMS Energy.

We’re back to Washington University’s Olin Business School with Associate Director of Recruiting Mikale Elliott in this installment of our Admissions Director Q&A series. Mikale spent her undergraduate career at the University of Missouri–Columbia studying business communication and gaining experience recruiting underrepresented minorities. After graduating, she took a non-traditional pathway working as a flight attendant for a few years. Eventually, she returned to higher education to work on an HIV prevention research project. Through all these pivots, the thing that brought her back to admissions was her passion for others from diverse backgrounds to reach their goals.
