    Saints claim 2nd straight Big South Championship with victory over Marshall

    The St. Peter girls basketball team has been crossing off goals that it has hoped to achieve all season long, and Tuesday night, the Saints secured the biggest regular season milestone, winning the Big South Conference championship with a 67-49 victory over Marshall.

    This marks the second consecutive Big South Conference Championship for the Saints after securing their first title since the conference merger last season.

    St. Peter now stands with a record of 25-1 (6-0 BSB) on the season and are currently ranked as the No. 4 team in Class AAA.

    In the victory, Rhyan Holmgren led the way with 24 points, seven boards and four assists while Maddie Kamm scored 14 points and added 10 boards for the double double. Kylie Southworth scored 14 points while Annika Southworth added seven and Abby Maloney tacked on six points and five rebounds.

    The Saints will close out their 2023-24 regular season Thursday, Feb. 22 when they host the Byron Bears with tipoff scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Byron is currently the No. 7 ranked team in Class AAA and enters the contest with a record of 21-4.
