COVINGTON — The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office is searching for a suspect who robbed a man at gunpoint while he was using an ATM in Covington Friday night. Deputies say the suspect, described as a black male in dark clothes wearing a mask, approached the victim just before 10 p.m. outside a bank along Highway 21. He demanded money from the victim before leaving in a dark colored sedan.

Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating after a man was robbed at gunpoint while using a Covington-area ATM. Shortly before 10 p.m. Friday (June 28) a black male wearing a mask and dark clothing approached a man who was making a deposit at an ATM outside a bank on Highway 21 near Covington. Armed with a pistol, the suspect demanded the money the victim was attempting to deposit and then left the area in a dark colored sedan.

District Attorney Collin Sims reports that on June 25, 2024, former Bogalusa firefighter Brandon Applewhite, age 39, pleaded guilty in St. Tammany Parish to one count of Sexual Battery of a victim with a physical or mental disability and one count of Molestation of a victim with a physical or mental disability in a case filed against him by the District Attorney’s Office in February of 2022.
