The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reports that three Covington-area people have been arrested on narcotics charges following two unrelated investigations. On the morning of June 28, 2024, detectives with to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Proactive Enforcement Unit and the Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on a Hyundai Elantra on Highway 437 near River Road in Covington.

Warrants Issued After Stolen Vehicles Located at Goodbee-area Storage Facility
Warrants have been issued for the arrest of a Madisonville-area man after stolen vehicles were located at a storage facility in the Goodbee area. Early Saturday (July 13) morning deputies with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s 3rd Patrol District were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle located near a storage facility in the 73000 block of Highway 1077. Responding deputies located several high-end vehicles parked at the facility, and STPSO Property Crimes detectives were called in to investigate.

Lacombe man convicted of murder beat victim to death, dumped body in a Florida canal
A St. Tammany Parish jury convicted a Lacombe man of second-degree murder Friday after deliberating for less than an hour. Patrick "Paris" McCarty, 37, was found guilty as charged in the 2022 killing of 36-year-old Joshua James after a five-day trial. McCarty was also convicted of obstruction of justice and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
