A New Jersey State Police trooper has admitted he punched a handcuffed woman in the face as she sat in in the back of a law enforcement vehicle in Cumberland County in 2022 in a plea deal that calls for him to serve up to a year in a county jail.

Brennan Center receives $30 million for Supreme Court reform
The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law has announced a $30 million commitment from Jim Kohlberg in support of reform at the U.S. Supreme Court. The gift will establish the Kohlberg Center on the U.S. Supreme Court, the first named unit within the Brennan Center, a nonpartisan law and policy institute dedicated to democracy and justice issues. The Kohlberg Center will use the investment to support research, public education, and policy advocacy for changes such as Supreme Court term limits and ethics reform. In addition, the center will convene scholars, hold public symposia, publish policy reports and research, and advance proposals. According to recent polls, Supreme Court approval ratings have hit near-record lows.
