President of Berkshire Furniture, Eric Bernstein Passes
Eric Bernstein, President of Berkshire Furniture, passed away after battling cancer. He was 55 years old. Bernstein’s company, based in Springfield, NJ, is one of New Jersey’s oldest family-owned furniture stores. Originally named Bernstein Furniture, Eric’s great-grandfather Solomon Bernstein opened his first store in 1903. Eric Bernstein joined his father, Lawrence, at Berkshire Furniture in 1991.

Omega Creates Ephemeral Communities Week After Week
On the first night of the three-day weekend meditation retreat this past May at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, Senior Director of Programs Carol Donahoe welcomed the 250 participants, who had come from 32 states and from France, Ireland and Canada (to name just a few places) to participate in the opening weekend of Omega’s 2024 season on the 250-acre Rhinebeck campus. She also greeted the 100 or so people who were present on Zoom. The stage, where Donohoe was sitting, was set up like a convivial morning show set, replete with chairs, floor lamps, cut flowers, and carafes of water for the meditation leaders who were soon to arrive.
