The 2024 NFL season is just weeks away which means that it is time to make some record predictions! Today’s article will focus on the Detroit Lions, members of the National Football Conference (NFC) North. The Lions are eager to kick off their 95th season on September 8th as they open up the season at home against the Los Angeles Rams in a rematch of the 2023 NFC Wildcard Game. The Detroi t Lions have high expectations in 2024 following their exciting run to the NFC Championship Game last season. The team finished with a record of 12-5, which was good enough to win the NFC North for the first time since 1993 and featured one of the NFL's explosive offenses headlined by quarterback Jared Goff, wide receiver Amon Ra St. Brown and running back Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

In the NFC Wildcard Round, the Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the Los Angeles Rams 24-23 at home in what was former Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford's return to Detroit. The team would later reign victorious in the NFC Divisional Round defeating the Baker Mayfield-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-23 at home. In the NFC Championship Game, the Lions blew a 24-7 halftime lead and fell to the San Francisco 49ers on the road. The team is motivated to fight back and attempt to make the Super Bowl.

During the off-season, the Lions heavily improved their cornerback group adding Carlton Davis (trade) and Amik Robertson (FA) along with attacking the position in the draft securing talented Alabama stud Terrion Arnold in the first-round and Missouri’s Ennis Rakestraw Jr in the second-round. The team also added depth at wide receiver, defensive tackle and the offensive line.

The Detroit Lions are projected to win 12 games in 2024 and earn the NFC's number one seed

It will be hard for the Detroit Lions to match their impressive 12-5 record from last season, even with a first-place schedule that is ranked 11th based off opponent win percentage. The team is surely capable of doing it though as the Lions are one of the best teams in the NFL offensively. Their brand new and improved defense will also help them win close games. The Detroit Lions are expected to once again win the NFC North and be a serious Super Bowl contender in January.

The Detroit Lions are projected to start 6-0 with home victories over LA Rams, Tampa Bay, and Seattle and road victories over Arizona, Dallas and Minnesota. In a rematch of a crushing defeat to the Cowboys last year, the Lions get revenge and take the win in Dallas. Other big victories include an early November dub over the Green Bay Packers, a huge win over the Buffalo Bills and payback against the San Francisco 49ers. Detroit is expected to win six games over teams with winning records in 2024.
