The Atlanta Braves Can't Catch A Break As They Lose Major Contributor To Injury

After a rough few months, things were looking up for the Atlanta Braves. Michael Harris II returned to the field after spending two months out with a hamstring injury. Jorge Soler hit home runs three games in a row and scored his first RBI as a Brave since 2021. But the Braves' luck ran out when Stoler strained his left hamstring.

After dazzling Braves fans by scoring home runs in three games straight, outfielder Jorge Soler is removed from the lineup after suffering a hamstring strain.

2024 has been a difficult year for the Atlanta Braves. They lost Ronald Acuña Jr. and Spencer Strider to season-ending injuries and got bogged down by a six-game losing streak. Th e Braves are now clinging to the third and final Wild Card spot in the Playoffs by only half a game , a lead they only have because "the Mets were swept by the Seattle Mariners ."

It seemed as though things were finally turning around for the Braves. This turnaround was because of outfielder Jorge Soler.

Soler started playing with the Braves in 2021 when the Braves acquired him from Kansas City. He was with the Braves when they won the 2021 World Series and his 446-foot homerun in Houston won World Series MPV honors. Soler returned to the Braves in late July of this year, when he was acquired from the San Francisco Giants with right-handed reliever Luke Jackson.

This trade brought b ack "two key players from their World Series-winning 2021 team." As ESPN puts it, Soler's "power is undeniable." The week before he returned to the Braves, Soler hit the longest home run of the season, measuring in at a whopping 478 feet.

Soler immediately used his "undeniable power" to turn things around for the Braves. He hit his first home run since returning to the Braves during the game against the August 9th game against the Colorado Rockies. This home run turned into a two-run shot that tied the game 5-5.

In the eighth inning of the game against the Miami Marlins, the Braves faced a three-run deficit. Soler overcame this deficit and tied up the game by scoring " his first RBI as a Brave since 2021." As a result of this RBI, the Braves won 5-3 against the Marlins. By the August 11th game against the Colorado Rockies, Soler had " smacked a homer in three straight games."

Braves fans took to social media to express their excitement.

According to ESPN, when Soler made his epic return to the Braves, he "join[ed] joins a Braves team bedeviled all season by injuries." Injuries have taken Ronald Acuña Jr., Angel Perdomo, Spencer Strider, and A.J. Minter out for the season.

Soler has been "bedeviled" by an injury of his own. Soler left during the fourth inning of August 14's game against the San Francisco Giants due to "hamstring tightness." The Braves initially called this removal "a precaution."

According to Battery Power, an MRI revealed that Soler has a "mild hamstring strain" and is "now considered day-to-day."

Though he did not play in Thursday's game against the San Francisco Giants or Friday's game against the Los Angeles Angels, Soler told the media that he could be back in the lineup on Saturday or Sunday. Mark Bowman confirmed this with a post on X, stating that Soler "woke up feeling much better" and is "not ruling out playing Saturday or Sunday."

CBS Sports less optimistically predicts that Soler will be out until at least August 20.

Losing Soler was a major blow to the already struggling Atlanta Braves. Soler's early exit from Wednesday's game " put a damper on Atlanta's third straight victory." Soler injured his hamstring on the same day that Michael Haris II returned to the field after being out for two months with a hamstring injury. Harris II made an epic comeback by hitting a grand slam during Wednesday's game, but the Braves' luck ran out when Soler was forced to exit early due to his injury.

As Fansided puts it, "talk about brutal timing."

Braves fans have taken to social media to express their concern for Soler and hope for a rapid recovery.

Jorge Soler seems to be on the road to recovery, and all the Braves fans are rooting for him. Despite all the challenges they've faced this season, the Atlanta Braves continue to persist. This resilience will carry Soler and the Braves through the rest of the 2024 season.
