Intriguing Week 2 NFL Best Bets

    By William Luke Hendrick,

With Week 1 wrapped and a mixed-bag record going 3-4, it's time to put that in the past and look forward to another week of betting.

We've learned more about teams that surprised us and validated our opinions, hopefully improving this week's selections. Let's get into my best bets for the Week 2 NFL slate:

    Saints at Cowboys

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=2Xw31G_0vVYhn2l00

    Game Information

Sunday, noon CT, AT&T Stadium, Arlington, TX

Money line: Cowboys (-280), Saints (+230)

    Spread: Cowboys (-6.5)

    Total: 46.5, Over (-114), Under (-106)

    Betting Trends

    • Dallas is 5-1 ATS in their last six games in Week 2

    • Dennis Allen has a 5-16-2 ATS record following a win

    Saints at Cowboys Prediction

The Saints had one of the strongest Week 1 performances, beating the Carolina Panthers 47-10. Is that an indication of the Panthers' absolute helplessness, or are the Saints much better than we all thought?

I'm going to say the Panthers are just that bad. Derek Carr looked as good as he ever had with the Saints, going off for 200 yards with three touchdowns and an 82.6 completion percentage. I expect him to come back down to earth against a vaunted Cowboys defense that kept Deshaun Watson under constant pressure.

    Best Bet

    Cowboys -6.5

    Chargers at Panthers

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=1MMR9n_0vVYhn2l00

    Game Information

Sunday, noon CT, Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC

Money line: Chargers (-260), Panthers (+260)

    Spread: Chargers -5.5 (-115)

    Total: 38.5, Over (-112), Under (-108)

    Betting Trends

    • Panthers are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games

    • Chargers are 4-1 ATS in their previous five games against NFC South oppenents

    Chargers at Panthers Prediction

The Jim Harbaugh Era in LA got a strong start in Week 1 as the Chargers cruised to a 22-10 victory over the Raiders, where J.K. Dobbins led the way with ten carries, 135 yards, and a touchdown. Now they head to face a helpless Panthers team who got blown out in Week 1 against the Saints, and the news got worse with Pro-Bowl defensive tackle Derrick Brown suffering a season-ending knee injury in Sunday's loss.

The Chargers would've had success running the ball anyway. Still, without star defensive tackle Derrick Brown, Los Angeles should have their way offensively while the defense will have the Panther's offense struggling for production.

    Best Bet

    Chargers -5.5

    Jets at Titans

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=3kLQcS_0vVYhn2l00

    Game Information

Sunday, noon CT, Nissan Stadium, Nashville, TN

Money line: Jets (-205), Titans (+172)

    Spread: Jets -4 (-110)

    Total: 41.5, Over (-105), Under (-115)

    Betting Trends

    • New York Jets are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games against Tennessee

    • Tennessee is 2-6 ATS in their last eight games when playing at home against the Jets

    Jets at Titans Prediction

Both teams had a disappointing Week 1, especially on the offensive side of the ball. I expect the Jets to bounce back after getting thumped by the 49ers, but I don't feel as optimistic about the Titans.

Will Levis looked lost against a stout Bears defense, and the challenge gets no easier against the No. 1 passing defense from the 2023 season. The Jets will respond and leave the Music City with their first win of the season.

    Best Bet

    Jets -4

    Steelers at Broncos

    https://img.particlenews.com/image.php?url=0DYpee_0vVYhn2l00

    Game Information

Sunday, 3:25 PM CT, Empower Field at Mile High, Denver, CO

Money line: Steelers (-154), Broncos (+130)

    Spread: Steelers -2.5 (-115)

    Total: 36.5, Over (-115), Under (-105)

    Betting Trends

    • Steelers are 4-2 ATS in their last six games against AFC West opponents

    Steelers at Broncos Prediction

Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix got his first start in Week 1 and struggled passing for 138 yards and two interceptions. Now Nix gets a steeper challenge against a Steelers defense that flexed its muscles against the Falcons due to its tremendous pass rush. He will be pressured early, and it will often be a tough day at the job for Bo Nix and the Broncos offense.

    Best Bet

    Steelers -2.5
