Surf City Volunteer Fire Company No. 1 and EMS Collecting Supplies for Victims of Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina

High School Cadets Climb Stairs To Honor 9/11 Heroes
BRICK – This past September 11, high school cadets climbed hundreds of flights of stairs to honor those who risked their lives 23 years ago. POINT PLEASANT BEACH — A Gift from the Heart, a Point Beach-based gift shop and nonprofit organization dedicated to providing employment experience to adults with special needs, is holding its first Gallery, Grill and Auction fundraiser on Oct. 19. According to A Gift from the Heart’s website, the nonprofit’s mission is to promote “the inclusion and acceptance of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their local communities” while at the same time “establishing a workplace that provides job training, meaningful employment, creativity and socialization…in the community.”
Downtown Toms River Scarecrow Walk
TOMS RIVER – The Scarecrow Walk is once again returning to Downtown Toms River. The community is invited to come downtown and vote for their favorite scarecrow. Scarecrows are on display from October 11 to October 31. Participating businesses will have ballots for voting. Just look for the Scarecrow Walk poster in their window!
All Saints gets ducks in a row for derby
BAY HEAD — The “fowl” weather did not end up ruffling feathers at All Saints Church, as it brought the Duck Derby back to Bay Head last weekend. On Saturday, Sept. 28, All Saints, located at 600 Lake Ave., hosted a Duck Derby/Fair fundraiser. Admission was $6 and attendees were able to participate in fun activities, including duck-themed mini-races where kids and residents pumped rubber ducks along custom-made tracks.
