Tomato Overturn on I-5 Causes Traffic Snarl in Stanislaus County, Road Now Clear
Chaos ensued on a Stanislaus County freeway when a big rig, laden with tomatoes, overturned earlier morning, sending its vibrant red cargo across the asphalt. According to KCRA, the incident took place at around 8:05 a.m. on Diablo Grande Parkway in Patterson, where the California Highway Patrol was called to address the mishap. While the exact cause of the crash remains a mystery, it was reported that there might be at least a minor injury.
Woman Dies from Burn Injuries
MODESTO – A woman who suffered burn injuries at a Robertson Road home on July 4th died from her injuries, the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Reported. Firefighters with Burbank-Paradise Fire Department and Stanislaus County Sheriff Deputies responded to a home on the 1900 block of Robertson Road for a report of a person on fire. Arriving personnel found a woman who had suffered burns over 80% of her body. She was transported to an area hospital by ambulance and later flown to a Sacramento burn center. The victim, identified as 52 year old Andrea Benning, died two days later.
Truck spills tomatoes, blocks northbound I-5 in Stanislaus County
PATTERSON, Calif. — Both lanes of northbound Interstate 5 are blocked near Patterson after a tomato truck overturned Tuesday. Caltrans said the crash happened along I-5 at Sperry Avenue around 8 a.m. Part of northbound I-5 will be closed in Stanislaus County until about 1 p.m. due to the crash, according to Caltrans.

Stanislaus County shelter offering free adoptions all week for long-stay dogs
MODESTO – Dogs who have been in shelter care for over 30 days can be adopted for free this week in Modesto in an effort to find these long-stay pets a permanent home. The Stanislaus Animal Services Agency wrote they have over 200 dogs in their car each week. Adoptions can be made in-person at their shelter location on Cornucopia Way and all adoptable dogs are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered.
