City Council Considers Funding to Address Memphis Police Vehicle Shortage (Video)
The Memphis Police Department is currently experiencing a significant vehicle shortage, impacting their ability to respond to emergencies efficiently. Several police SUVs have been involved in crashes recently, including one on Thursday. Out of 37 assigned vehicles, only 13 are currently operational. Officers are hesitant to send vehicles for routine maintenance due to fear of not getting a replacement, further exacerbating the issue.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 47-year-old Millington man lost his life when a 15-foot jon boat capsized on Friday, July 26, 2024, on the Mississippi River in Shelby County. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officers responded to a capsized boat in the Mississippi River’s Mud Island Wolf River Harbor area at approximately 9 a.m. on July 26.
