Sydney Affolter steps into new leadership position with the Hawkeyes
IOWA CITY, Iowa — With the departure of 3 key senior starters, it's now Sydney Affolter's time to step in as a vocal leader for the Hawkeye women's basketball team. Affolter started the final 9 games last year, after the injury to Molly Davis. And she's become a key cog in helping this transition period to the next phase of Hawkeye women's hoops.
Man dead after lawnmower pins him to ground
JESUP, Iowa (KCRG) - A man died Thursday afternoon after a lawnmower rolled off of a trailer and pinned him to the ground. The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office says they got a report of an accident involving equipment, with a man pinned under a lawnmower. The call came in around 12:50 p.m. Emergency crews quickly responded to the 1,000 block of 160th Street north of Jesup.
3-run 2nd inning sends City High to third straight State tournament
IOWA CITY, Iowa — City High only needed a trio of runs on Wednesday night, to beat their rivals from Iowa City West in the Substate championship round. The Little Hawks clinched their third straight trip to State, where they'll be the 3-seed in the 4A bracket. The Little Hawks will face Waukee in the first round next Tuesday.

(Boone, IA) – The IHSAA officially released the High School Baseball State Tournament brackets for the 2024 Baseball Tournament in Carroll for Classes 1A and 2A and in Cedar Rapids for Classes 3A and 4A. Local teams in Class 2A include Underwood and Pleasantville while local teams in Class 3A feature Harlan Community. You can find the brackets listed below. Ceiling collapsed in this Waterloo man's apartment after Tuesday’s heavy rainfall
International student Chintan Bhardwaj is still picking up the pieces after Tuesday’s rain collapsed the roof of his apartment at 30 Hickory Street E. in Waterloo. Bhardwaj is registered at the Law Society of Ontario and meant to write his barrister exam next month but says studying has been put on hold. CBC KW’s Karis Mapp visited the apartment. The building's management has been in touch with Bhardwaj to offer him another place to live while the roof and ceiling are fixed.
