CABC Cook-Off Challenge Announced
The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber (CABC) is holding the second-annual Coastal Tailgate Cook-Off Challenge at The Wharf in Orange Beach on August 24. Attendees will have the opportunity to sample a variety of foods, featuring bacon, in a tailgating atmosphere. Tailgating teams will be competing for a golden ticket to the World Food Championships in Indianapolis. Attendees will vote on a People’s Choice Award, with the winning team receiving a trophy and prize package. The best-dressed fan will also receive an award, and attendees can also expect live music and games. The entry fee to take part in the challenge is $100. It is open to amateurs and professionals of all ages, who can compete either as individuals or as a team. Attendance is $20 and free for children aged 5 and under, and sponsorships are available by contacting CABC’s Kimberly Ray at email.
Foley To Discuss Plans For Indoor-Outdoor Aquatic Center
Foley residents will have a chance to provide input on plans for the city’s indoor-outdoor pool facility to be built in Max Griffin Park. The city will hold a public input meeting on July 23 on the proposed Foley aquatics center. The discussion will allow residents to comment on the project before the design of the center is complete. The new facility will replace the outdoor pool built in 1953. Features for the new facility are still being designed, but the new pool will include improvements such as Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility. The new center would be built on the site of the current pool in Max Griffin Park. Plans call for construction to begin after the end of the summer swimming season in 2025. The current pool would be demolished to allow for construction of the new aquatic center.

Mike Reid of Merrill P. Thomas Co., Inc., represented both the landlord (a private company) and tenant (Excel Beach Service) in the lease of 18270 County Road 12 in Foley. This is a 4,480-ft2 industrial building featuring office, showroom and warehouse space. Excel Beach Service is a locally owned and operated provider of beach and bonfire experiences along the Gulf Shores, Perdido Key, 30A and Destin coastlines. It offers a range of services including beach chair, umbrella and side table rentals, as well as paddleboard rentals and beach bonfire setups.
