STAR CITY, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Steak ‘N Shake location on U.S. 19 in Star City finally held its grand opening on Monday after being delayed for nearly five years.

A ribbon cutting was held in the morning with excited diners packing the parking lot and drive-thru. General Manager Ray Stepich said that he and his team are “happy to get as many customers through the door as we can.”

The opening of this Steak N’ Shake was long awaited with the restaurant originally slated to open in 2019. Stepich said the cause of the long wait was the bedrock under the lot that took a while to dig out.

Around lunchtime, the location was getting good traffic with many Morgantown-area residents coming to check out the Midwest burger chain that turned 90 this year. Stepich told 12 News that the restaurant was working with the local police department to manage the traffic around the location.
