STAR CITY, W.Va. (WBOY) — The organizers of a fundraiser for Star City Police Department Chief Jessica Colebank’s cancer battle say they’re confident they surpassed the $10,000 goal they set for Friday night’s spaghetti dinner.

Colebank was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Several members of law enforcement as well as community members helped organize the fundraiser.

The event was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Star City from noon to 7 p.m. All of the materials for the fundraiser, including the eggs for the meatballs, were donated, Star City Mayor Sharon Doyle told 12 News earlier this month .

Doyle spoke with 12 News again Friday during the event.

“I’ve known Jess…I was on the council when she was hired as an officer,” Doyle said. “I’ve watched her grow through her career and we just need to do this for her.”

Those who couldn’t make the fundraiser but who still wish to donate can do so by mailing or dropping off a check made out to “Cure for the Chief” to the Town of Star City’s City Hall. Those who are unable to leave their home can call the town at 304-599-3550 to arrange for someone to pick it up.
