For a lot of people, Labor Day weekend means one last shot at the beach.
It means that for me, too, but it also means something else: football season. College football is back, the NFL returns next week, and fantasy football is getting ready to be in full swing. I play in a work league and a friends-and-family league, and it sure does make the games more interesting to watch.
But you didn't come here to hear about my fantasy football team(s), which by definition no one cares about but me. Luckily, we've got a lot of info about things happening around Wilmington.
Let's get into it.
Weekend weather outlook
Remember last week when it was "cold," aka "60s in the summer?" Well, those days are over, and summer is back. Highs in the low 90s all weekend, and tons of sun (and fun). See you at the beach.
Go | See | Do
Summer (unofficially) comes to an end this holiday weekend, so not surprisingly there are tons of things to see and do .
At Carolina Beach it's the grand finale of the Boardwalk Blast concert and fireworks series on Friday, and there's good music across the area, including touring acts ( Steve Earle at Greenfield Lake Amphitheater on Saturday) and top local bands (Ridgewood, Pearl, Lady Die and many more play a day-long show for reproductive rights group Public Cervix Announcement spanning both Hi-Wire and Bowstring on Princess Street on Sunday).
Plus, it's the last weekend for Sihr Theatre's production of the smart, spooky play " Shining City " at North Front Theatre, and Big Dawg Productions opens fast-paced comedy " The 39 Steps " in Thalian Hall's studio.
