SEA GIRT — The Sea Girt Fire Company is holding their annual food drive, collecting both nonperishable food items and monetary donations to support local families in need, on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in The Plaza.

This drive’s donations will be donated to four local church food pantries including the Little Free Pantry at the First Baptist Church, Hope Community Church, Manasquan Community Pantry at the Manasquan Presbyterian Church and St. Denis Church.

The drive is looking for any nonperishable items that can help someone in need – that is not past its expiration date –  including canned, packaged and boxed goods.

The drive is also accepting monetary donations, for those who choose to do so. For those who want to assist after Saturday’s collection time, a check made payable to Sea Girt Fire Company – Food Drive, can be mailed to the Fire Company’s P.O. Box 402.

The drive was founded during the COVID-19 pandemic by fire company member Ed Sidley and has been chaired by Ray Thorn, along with constant support from the rest of the members ever since it first began, including the associate members, police members and firefighters.
