Starbuck Meat Locker processing plant destroyed in Saturday fire

A meat processing plant in west-central Minnesota was destroyed after a fire broke out Saturday.

According to the Pope County Sheriff’s Office, police and fire crews from various departments were called to a report of a structure fire at the Starbuck Meat Locker, located at 117 East 5th Street in Starbuck, at around 12:45 p.m.

At the scene, heavy smoke and visible flames were observed coming out of the roof of the building.

Additional responders were called to the scene, and the fire was eventually extinguished. No injuries were reported, and the plant was closed at the time of the fire.
