South Carolina adds fourth linebacker to 2025 recruiting class
Donovan Darden formally jumped into South Carolina's 2025 recruiting class on Monday afternoon, to give the Gamecocks their fourth linebacker commitment. Darden, who's classified on 247Sports as a three-star edge prospect, announced his commitment to South Carolina over N.C. State and Illinois. All three hosted him for official visits last month. His offer sheet also includes Boston College, Michigan State, Michigan and West Virginia.
Ohio man who fled to South Carolina after stabbing wife pleads guilty, sentenced
A man who fled to South Carolina after stabbing his wife to death admitted his crime Monday before the case went to trial. Charles Rocker, 56, pleaded guilty to one count of murder in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. Judge Chris Brown sentenced Rocker to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 15 years.

Deputies: Man taken to hospital after pulled from lake in Seneca
SENECA, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office said a man has ben taken to the hospital after being pulled from a lake Tuesday morning. Deputies said dispatch received a 911 call around 8:30 a.m. in regards to a reported drowning in the lake along Harts Ridge Drive in Seneca.
Extensive Agenda for County Council Tonight
Oconee County Council will convene tonight for its sole July meeting, featuring an extensive executive session agenda. The meeting includes public hearings and third reading votes on ordinances concerning lot size regulations and tax agreements with Sandvik Machining Solutions USA, LLC. Additionally, a second reading vote is scheduled on conveying easement rights to Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC. Council will also address resolutions for an easement agreement with the U.S. Department of the Army and procurement requests from the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department, including funding for park improvements and signage projects. The executive session will cover economic development matters, legal advice on contractual issues, and opioid litigation. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at 415 S. Pine St., Walhalla.
Man charged after assaulting officer during arrest in Honea Path
HONEA PATH, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Honea Path Police Department said a man with an active warrant assaulted an officer during an arrest after officers spotted him walking in the roadway on Friday. Police said Russel Wayne Davis had a warrant for damaging a Honea Path town owned vehicle.

The day will be Thursday, and that’s when spokesman Robert Kittle of the Attorney’s General Office says defendants snared in two drug investigations — Rocket Fuel and Prison Empire — will be heard in the Oconee County courtroom.
