Ready for the Fourth of July? Several Centre County grocery stores will close early

One of the summer’s most anticipated holidays is almost here. Whether you’re stocking up on burgers and hot dogs or wrangling some last-minute fixings, it’s time to head out for some Fourth of July shopping.
Independence Day falls on a Thursday this year, and some stores in the State College area will operate under modified or reduced hours for the holiday. Be sure to check before you head out for groceries or propane for the grill.
Here’s a brief overview of holiday hours for grocery markets and liquor stores throughout some parts of Centre County. Some schedules and services may vary by location.
Aldi
Aldi’s Centre County stores, located at 780 Benner Pike and 1798 N. Atherton St. in State College, will both close at 4 p.m. the Fourth of July, according to the company’s website. Normal hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. resume starting Friday.
Fine Wine & Good Spirits
All four Fine Wine & Good Spirits stores located in the State College area — Southridge Plaza, North Atherton, Hamilton Square and Benner Pike — will close at 4 p.m. Independence Day.
Giant
All Giant stores will remain open for normal business hours the Fourth of July, though pharmacies will close at 2 p.m. The company’s stores at 2121 S. Atherton St. and 255 Northland Center in State College are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the 2699 Benner Pike store is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Sam’s Club
State College’s Sam’s Club, located at 381 Benner Pike, will open be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday. Its pharmacy is closed all day before it resumes regular hours along with the rest of the store starting Friday.
Target
Both State College Target locations are scheduled to operate under normal hours the Fourth of July, according to the company’s website. The 315 Colonnade Blvd. location is open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the 201 W. Beaver Ave. location opens at 7 a.m. and closes at 11 p.m.
Trader Joe’s
State College’s Trader Joe’s, located at 243 Patriot Lane, will close at 5 p.m. Independence Day, according to its website.
Walmart
Standard business hours are on tap for Walmart’s stores this Fourth of July, according to the company’s website. Both the 1665 N. Atherton St. and 373 Benner Pike stores are open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Wegmans
State College’s Wegmans store, located at 345 Colonnade Blvd., is open from 6 a.m. to midnight the Fourth of July. However, the store’s pharmacy will offer modified hours from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the holiday.
Weis (Bellefonte)
This Weis store, located at 170 Buckaroo Lane in Bellefonte, is open with normal hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Independence Day. Its pharmacy will close at 3 p.m.
Weis (Philipsburg)
This Weis market, located at 501 N. Centre St. in Philipsburg, is open with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. the Fourth of July. The pharmacy will close at 3 p.m.
Weis (Martin Street)
The Weis store at 1471 Martin St. in State College is open with usual hours from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. the Fourth of July.
Weis (Rolling Ridge Drive)
This Weis store, located at 110 Rolling Ridge Drive in State College, is open with regular hours from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. The store’s pharmacy will close at 3 p.m.
Weis (Westerly Parkway)
This Weis location at 560 Westerly Parkway in State College will operate under regular hours from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. the Fourth of July.
