Buffalo Wild Wings eyeing State College location

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — A popular U.S. wing chain might be coming to Happy Valley.

Buffalo Wild Wings, known for its “Wings, Beer and Sports” has requested a liquor license transfer for a possible future location in downtown State College. The Borough of State College has the liquor license transfer process review slated for its Monday, July 8 meeting.

A public hearing is scheduled for Aug. 5 with approval being scheduled for Aug. 19. The Manager and Chief of Police will be reviewing the process with Council at this meeting.

If approved, a liquor license from the former Don Patron Mexican Grill would be transferred to Buffalo Wild Wings. Don Patron closed in 2017 and was located at 16803 North Atherton Street.

Buffalo Wild Wings is looking to take over the former Maxxon building at 131 Heister Street, directly across from Lion’s Den which features an outdoor patio space. The borough did confirm they received a sign package for the chain to install signs at the vacant property.

If Buffalo Wild Wings does come to the area, it will be the first location in Central Pennsylvania and the 31st in the state.

WTAJ reached out to Buffalo Wild Wings and the property’s commercial broker regarding the possibility of the wing chain coming to the area. As of this writing, we have not received a reply.
