STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) – The replacement coming into the former BioLife building is under a new name: the Nittany Residency Club.

The Nittany Residency Club will be one of many upcoming hotels in the area. State College , Benner Township and Bellefonte all have proposed hotel projects.

The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau (HVAB) sees the influx of new hotels as a good thing for the area.

“It’s an indicator of a strong tourism and visitation industry,” HVAB CEO Fritz Smith said. “People would not be investing money into building new hotels if they didn’t feel that we are in a growing economy.”

More hotels may be coming down the line as well. While Smith did not mention or confirm specific plans, he said he would like to see more development in the Philipsburg and Bald Eagle areas as well.
