Former Penn State football cornerback AJ Lytton died Friday night at 24 years old, his high school confirmed Saturday morning. The Minnesota Vikings confirmed Lytton was killed in a car accident along with former teammates Khyree Jackson, who was drafted by the Vikings in 2024, and Isaiah Hazel.

Lytton, a native of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, spent only the 2021 season in Happy Valley. He appeared in 11 games and made one tackle against Iowa. He entered the transfer portal following the season but did not commit to another program.

Prior to Penn State, Lytton played for Florida State from 2018-19. He had 14 total tackles each season, as well as one interception and two pass breakups in 2018.

According to a release from the Maryland State Police, the crash involved three cars, though only Lytton, Jackson, and Hazel were killed. Four others were involved in the crash, though all were unharmed. Jackson and Hazel were declared dead at the scene of the crash, while Lytton’s death was confirmed at the University of Maryland Captial Region Medical Center.

According to the release, a driver attempted to merge lanes at a high speed before colliding with the trio’s Dodge Charger. The Charger traveled off the right side of the road and struck multiple tree stumps before coming to a rest.
