Two State College staples are coming together in a new partnership this fall.

Harpers, a downtown State College clothing store specializing in fine menswear, women’s apparel, and Penn State gear, announced it will open a location in the newly renovated Nittany Lion Inn upon its reopening to guests in September.

The new location will be smaller than its flagship store on College Avenue, however, the new store aims to offer a selection of unique Penn State clothing and accessories in addition to the men’s and women’s apparel the shop is known for. Harpers’ location will also carry branded merchandise for the Nittany Lion Inn as an exclusive collaboration between the two brands.

In a release on its website , Brian Cohen, the third-generation owner of Harpers, said, “We are proud to be part of the revitalized Nittany Lion Inn. It feels like a natural partnership.”

Jack Harper’s, the original “custom shop for men,” was opened in 1926 by State College native Jack Harper on West College Avenue. The store merged with Young Men’s Shop, founded by Joe Cohen in 1926, in 2000 to form the Harpers as folks know it today. Harpers moved to its current location on East College Avenue in the summer of 2017.
