Turf Down, Press Box Up for New Danville High School Football Field
The green field turf for the new Danville High School football field is down, including the maroon “Danville” and “Vikings” end zones. In addition, a home side press box; something brand new at Ned Whitesell Field, is in place. District 118 Athletic Director Mark Bacys says work on the lights will be going on through the end of this week, and all is on schedule for the renovated field’s “first event” on Thursday, August 29th.

DANVILLE — Vermilion Advantage President and CEO Mike Marron said findings made public by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration about salmonella contamination possibly extending for years at the former Quaker Oats plant in Danville were “definitely concerning” and answered some questions on why PepsiCo made its decision to close the plant so suddenly.
Danville Police Continue Search for Missing 12-Year-Old Male Last Seen in Vermilion River
THE FOLLOWING IS A DANVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASE. On 07/15/24, around 8:11pm two juveniles notified Danville Police that a third juvenile had gone missing in the Vermilion River near the 100 block of Commercial Street. Danville Police immediately responded to the scene and began looking for a 12-year-old male juvenile who had reportedly been swimming near the riverbank when he was overcome by the current and pulled under the water. Danville Police searched the riverbank and were unable to locate the juvenile.

EDGAR COUNTY, Ill. (WTWO/WAWV)– The Edgar County Coroner has ruled a death from a March 15 crash a homocide. According to a release on Facebook, Scott Barrett the coroner for Edgar County has ruled the death of James H. Lutz a homicide. Lutz was the victim in a crash on March 15 on Illinois Highway Route One. A white 2014 Ford F150 driven by 38-year-old Melissa J. Edwards of Marshall Illinois crossed the center line and struck Lutz vehicle.
