Couple Behind Hope Center Continuing to Seek their Next Mission
It was at the end of May that the Hope Center’s Nathan and Lauren Lenstra ceased operations in what they had been providing for families in the Fair Oaks Area. Their ministry dated back to 2007. Then, around 2017, the Hope Center began offering important things for Fair Oaks area families like after school programming and summer day camps.

Coroner Rules Homicide In Edgar County Crash
Edgar County, Il. – In March of this year 70-year-old James Lutz of Chrisman, Illinois was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 1 in Edgar County. At the time the report from the Edgar County Coroner, Scott Barrett, said the collision was a head on crash between 2 trucks one driven by Lutz and the other by 38-year-old Melissa Edwards, of Marshall who was injured in the accident. Wednesday the coroner said the results of toxicology reports came back showing that Edwards was under the influence of Methamphetamine and Ketamine when the accident happened. The case has been sent to the State’s Attorney’s Office to determine criminal charges.

A large number of central Illinois’ early settlers were of German and Swedish descent. The availability of rich agricultural land was tempting. In the case of the Swedes, overpopulation and the late industrialization of the Swedish economy persuaded those from that country to head overseas for a better life. For the Germans, they were continuing the life they knew. The Olson-Cessna family of rural St. Joseph are descendants of those early settlers. Hoopeston police arrest two for alleged meth possession
HOOPESTON — Hoopeston police arrested two men on Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine. Officers arrested Anthony J. Chandler, 42, around 1 a.m. near West Maple Street and South First Avenue after learning he had an active warrant from Vermilion County for failure to appear in court for possession of meth. He was taken to the Danville Public Safety Building to await arraignment.
