The heat advisory has been extended to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 10. This story has been updated. A heat advisory has been issued for part of Centre County for the second time this summer amid high temperatures and humidity. Penn State Student Reports Sexual Assault at University Park Residence Hall
A Penn State student reported being sexually assaulted early Sunday morning inside a University Park campus residence, according to the university. Penn State issued a Timely Warning after the assault was reported to University Police early Monday morning. Colleges and universities are required to issue Timely Warnings by the Clery Act when certain crimes, including sex offenses, are reported on campus. The student reported being assaulted by a known person "in a residence hall located in the southern portion of campus," according to the notice. A police log entry lists the alleged offenses as rape, aggravated assault and forcible fondling. A description of the suspect was not provided. The Timely Warning is the first issued for a sexual assault at the University Park campus since Nov. 15. Former Penn State Football Player A.J. Lytton Dies in Crash
Former Penn State football cornerback A.J. Lytton was among three people killed in multi-vehicle crash early Saturday morning, Maryland State Police confirmed. Lytton and Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson, both 24, were passengers in a Dodge Charger driven by their former high school teammate Isaiah Hazel, 23, when their car was struck by an Infinity Q50, went off the road and hit several tree stumps at 3:14 a.m. in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, a preliminary investigation found. Takac, YMCA Partner for Back-to-School Drive
State Rep. Paul Takac, D-College Township, and the YMCA of Centre County are once again partnering for a back-to-school donation drive to help provide supplies for local students. Buffalo Wild Wings Seeking Liquor License Transfer for Downtown State College Location
Seven years after scrapping plans for a location in Ferguson Township, Buffalo Wild Wings may finally be coming to the Centre Region. The national restaurant chain has applied for a liquor license transfer to The Maxxen building, 131 Hiester Street in downtown State College, according to the agenda for Monday's borough council work session. The liquor license would be acquired and transferred from the former Don Patron Mexican Grill, which closed its restaurant at 1653 N. Developer Presents Final Plan for Condo Hotel in Downtown State College
A developer has submitted final plans for a condominium hotel in downtown State College, with the start of construction anticipated in early 2025. James Venture and Jamison Morse, of Sewickley-based VS Development Consultants, presented to the State College Planning Commission on Wednesday the final land development plan for the nine-story, mixed-use building called Nittany Residence Club.
