State College Area School District is taking its first steps toward construction of a new Park Forest Middle School. The school board on Monday approved a preliminary geotechnical exploration for the planned site of the new school on a district-owned parcel off of Valley Vista Drive. Penn State men's hockey will face Army on Dec. 12 at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C., the program announced on Wednesday morning. The Capital Hockey Classic, run by Monumental Sports & Entertainment, will feature a college hockey doubleheader. Hobby Horse Derby Event to Benefit Jana Marie Foundation
Jana Marie Foundation will host its first Hobby Horse Derby from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 26, at Calvary Harvest Fields in Boalsburg. Man Accused of Kicking State Troopers After Starting Fight with Staff at Centre County Strip Club
A Bradford County man was arrested after he allegedly got into a fight with staff at a Huston Township strip club then resisted and kicked state troopers who responded to the scene. Staff at The End Zone Show/Sports Club, 100 Lion Lane, Port Matilda, told state police at Rockview that at about 10 p.m. on Saturday, Richard G. Student Reports Burglary, Sexual Assault at Penn State Residence Hall
Penn State police are investigating a reported burglary and sexual assault at a University Park residence hall. A student "reported an unknown perpetrator entered their residence hall room uninvited and assaulted them," between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Monday in the East Halls housing complex , according to a Timely Warning issued by Penn State University Police. Colleges and universities are required to issue Timely Warnings by the Clery Act when certain crimes, including sex offenses, are reported on campus. The identity of the alleged assailant is unknown and no description was provided in the warning. It is the second Timely Warning issued at University Park this month. A student reported on July 8 being sexually assaulted by a known person in a residence on the southern portion of campus. That case is still open, according to a crime log entry.
