    JT's BBQ

JT's BBQ officially closed after the second weekend in May.

Owner JT Sanders began the food truck operation last year, serving up Texas-style barbecue in Turner and Salem. He said he's decided to close because he and his family are moving to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Sanders said he plans on continuing to make barbecue and open a brick-and-mortar space in Texas.-

Sanders said the move was a faith-based decision and also for his children. He said he's excited and "terrified." Sanders said the community has been overwhelmingly positive and he's glad folks have enjoyed his food.

Sanders is selling his food truck. For more details, check out the Facebook page.

    Red Haus Pizza

Red Haus Pizza is a new pizza truck in Mt. Angel. The operation is run by Ally and Mac Corthell, who moved to town in 2022.

The two make "artisan-style pizza," with homemade dough and sauce for their pies every weekend. The dough is a medium thickness, with a chewy crust. They also offer gluten-free dough, with every pie made to order.

Ally said she and Mac love pizza, but didn't realize there weren't many options after they moved to Mt. Angel.

They had joked about opening their own place, but their jokes turned serious in early 2023.

The two decided to upgrade their homemade pizzas and learn to make restaurant quality ones to serve other pie lovers in the area.

They opened the food truck in September, which is parked outside their home. Some seating is available next to the truck.

There are six pizza options, with plans to add more items to the menu in the future. The pizzas they offer now include cheese, Hawaiian, pepperoni, supreme, veggie and "The Red Haus," which has German-style sausages, fondue cheese, five-cheese blend, onion and tomato sauce.

Why Red Haus? The food truck's name comes from their home having a red roof and in keeping with other businesses in the Bavarian-style town who use the German spelling of "house." Red Haus had its grand opening one weekend before Oktoberfest in 2023 and served pizza during the festival. They plan to do so again.

The couple run the operation themselves and also have two children under 2 years old, so operating hours are limited to Friday and weekend evenings.

Red Haus is now accepting bulk orders for corporate or other occasions, Ally said. Orders must be made in advance, with a minimum of six pizzas per order. Orders can be made by calling 971-428-5541 or emailing redhauspizza@gmail.com.
