    32-year-old Cornelius man drowns in Hagg Lake

    A 32-year-old Cornelius man drowned in Henry Hagg Lake in Washington County on Saturday evening, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

    Multiple rescue crews responded to a suspected drowning at 7:10 p.m. for an adult male, identified as Vielman Mijail De La Cruz-Lopez, who had jumped off a fishing pier into the lake. According to a press release, he surfaced before struggling to swim and then submerging again and did not resurface.

    De La Cruz-Lopez's body was recovered at 9:30 p.m.

    The water at the time of the search and recovery operations was 80 degrees, according to the sheriff's office.

    The sheriff's office was assisted in recovery efforts by American Medical Response, Forest Grove Fire Department, Gaston Fire Department, Hillsboro Police Department, Lake Oswego Fire Department Water Rescue Team, Lake Oswego Fire Department Dive Team, Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue Water Team, Washington County Medical Examiner's Office and Washington County Parks.
