Southern Oregon hotel voted No. 1 bed and breakfast in US

The Winchester Inn in Ashland has been voted Best Bed and Breakfast by USA Today 10Best Readers' Choice Awards.

The boutique hotel in the Rogue Valley combines history and elegance to provide a luxury historical lodging experience in downtown Ashland. The building was built in 1886 as a private home and renovated in 1983 into a hotel.

The Winchester Inn has a total of 21 rooms and suites. Each room includes amenities such as fresh flowers, afternoon pastry treats, plush terry cloth robes and toiletries.

The Alchemy Restaurant and Bar is located onsite with craft cocktails and an award winning wine list. Across the street is the hotel's sister restaurant, Chateaubriand 36, a French inspired steakhouse.

The Winchester Inn is just blocks from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival . Guests are eligible for discounted OSF tickets. The OSF features more than eight months of plays, backstage tours and educational programs.

Southern Oregon has more than 150 wineries from Roseburg to Ashland and the Winchester Inn is steps away from nearby wineries. When staying at the inn, guests can receive a map of the area including nearby wineries and their locations.

Ashland and southern Oregon also has year-round recreation. Hiking and biking trails are minutes from downtown and nearby rivers have white water rafting. Mount Ashland has skiing and snowboarding in the winter.
