    How to stream 'Halloweentown,' 'Twilight,' other spooky movies filmed in Oregon

    Spooky forests, foggy beaches and dreary weather have made Oregon a desirable location to make scary movies.

    So, with Halloween fast approaching, here are 14 spooky movies to enjoy that were filmed around Oregon with information on how to watch them.

    'The Ring' (2002)

    A Seattle reporter investigates the mysterious death of her sister's daughter and discovers a tape that foreshadows the viewer's death seven days after watching it.

    The movie was filmed in parts of Oregon, including Astoria, and the infamous lighthouse images on the tape are the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse in Newport.

    How to watch: The movie is streaming on Pluto TV and AMC+.

    'Coraline' (2009)

    A young girl moves into a new home with her mother and father and soon discovers a parallel dimension within the house. Created at Laika Studios in Hillsboro, and featuring the Pink Palace Apartments in Ashland, "Coraline" is a stop motion animated movie known for its scarier elements.

    How to watch: The movie is streaming on Tubi, Pluto TV and the Roku Channel.

    'The Goonies' (1985)

    A group of friends find a long-lost treasure map and set off on the adventure of a lifetime. This classic has been loved by Oregonians for more than 30 years and is still celebrated for its iconic scenes in Astoria and along the coast.

    How to watch: The movie is streaming on Hulu with a premium subscription, YouTube TV and Sling TV.

    'The Shining' (1980)

    Jack Torrance moves his family out to the harsh Colorado landscape after accepting a caregiving position at the Overlook Hotel. There, Jack's mind slowly deteriorates, and his small son Danny begins to have frightening visions of the hotel's unfortunate occupants.

    Exterior shots of Mount Hood's Timberline Lodge were used to depict the outside of the Overlook Hotel and it's now a sought-after destination for horror lovers.

    'Twilight' (2008)

    The movie, starring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, tells the story of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, a vampire Bella becomes attracted to after moving to go to high school in Forks, Washington.

    The movie was filmed at spots around Oregon, including Silver Falls State Park and on the north Oregon Coast.

    How to watch: The movie is streaming on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.

    'The Rental' (2020)

    A man and his wife rent an Oregon Coast Airbnb with his brother for a weekend getaway. While there they discover a hidden camera in the home as a masked man begins to terrorize them. The movie was mainly filmed in Bandon.

    'Halloweentown' (1998)

    This beloved family film features a young girl named Marnie who discovers she's a witch and must work with her family to save their magic town. The film was shot in St. Helens and many of the movie's memorable settings, including city hall and the giant pumpkin, can still be found there. The town celebrates the movie every year by throwing a monthlong " Halloweentown" celebration .

    'Stand By Me' (1986)

    This movie, which was adapted from a Stephen King novel, tells the story of four young boys who set out to find the body of a missing boy. The movie was mostly filmed in Brownsville.

    'Cabin Fever' (2016)

    Five friends travel to a remote cabin only to find themselves fighting for their lives against a deadly virus. This remake of the 2002 original was filmed at spots around Oregon.

    How to watch: Cabin Fever is streaming on Paramount+.

    'ParaNorman' (2012)

    A young boy who can speak with the dead must stop a witch's curse to save his town. Like "Coraline," this film is an animated movie shot at LAIKA Studios in Hillsboro.

    How to watch: The movie is streaming on Amazon Prime, Tubi and Pluto TV.

    'The Green Room' (2015)

    A punk band is held captive in a green room after witnessing a murder in a bar in the woods outside of Portland. Filming took place in Portland, Astoria and Mount Hood National Forest.

    How to watch: You can stream the movie with a premium subscription to Hulu, Amazon Prime and YouTube TV.

    'Antlers' (2021)

    In the fictional town of Cispus Falls, a troubled boy is forced to care for his younger brother and father who is slowly turning into a deer-like monster after being attacked in the woods.

    How to watch: The movie is streaming on Paramount+.

    'Cthulhu' (2007)

    This adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" takes place along the Oregon Coast and was filmed in Astoria, Florence and Gearhart. It depicts a young man returning home to discover his father is part of a new age cult with apocalyptic beliefs.

    'The Mortuary Collection' (2019)

    An anthology of short horror stories told by mortician Montgomery Dark of The Raven's End Mortuary. The movie was partly filmed in Astoria with the Flavel House being used as the mortuary.
