STAUNTON – Early Monday morning, National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for portions of eastern West Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western Maryland for the week ahead.
On Monday multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms move across the area through Monday night. Heavy rainfall could result in scattered instances of flooding, mainly in the urban centers, NWS said.
Tuesday through Sunday, a few instances of flash flooding are possible over areas that see repetitive rounds of slow-moving thunderstorms through Wednesday.
Rain forecasted for the area is much needed. According to the July 18 U.S. Drought Monitor report, the entire Shenandoah Valley and Allegheny Highlands region are experience an extreme drought.
