STAUNTON — The Staunton Augusta Art Center announced its first-ever artist residency program, "Arts in Practice," running throughout the month of August and culminating in a closing reception on Sept. 6.

The groundbreaking program brings together a diverse group of talented artists, offering a unique opportunity for the community to engage with art and artists in an immersive and interactive setting.

"Arts in Practice" features the work and creative processes of the following artists:

    • Dwell Collective
    • Sarah Jones
    • Joshua Yurges
    • Barbara Holt
    • Jill Kimbrough

During the residency, the Staunton Augusta Art Center will transform its galleries into a dynamic space where visitors can witness a variety of artistic practices. Attendees are invited to observe the artists at work, participate in discussions about their techniques and processes, and experience the evolution of their art in real-time.

"We are excited to launch our first artist residency and provide a platform for these talented individuals to share their creativity with the community," said Angus Carter, Executive Director of the Staunton Augusta Art Center. The residency will conclude with a festive closing reception on Sept. 6 from 5-8 p.m. This event will provide an opportunity to celebrate the artists' achievements, view completed works, and enjoy light refreshments.
