Back in April, Colorado saw its most expensive residential sale: $108 million. It was casino tycoon Steve Wynn who snapped up the 11-bedroom Aspen spread, and now a three-story contemporary chalet about 150 miles north of Aspen, at 2965 Trails Edge in the Centennial State’s Steamboat Springs community, is available for $24 million, making it the most expensive home currently on the market in the winter ski resort, according to marketing materials provided by listing agent Chris Paoli of The Agency.

Named Over the Edge, the home sits on the slopes of the Steamboat Ski Resort, atop Mount Werner, and features seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms across its 9,950 square feet. Soaring ceilings add volume and air, and large windows grant views of the nearby resort, as well as the surrounding valley and snow-topped mountains. Exterior terraces totaling over 3,000 square feet also highlight the modern digs, while its ski-in/ski-out location is powdered snow on the cake.

The fireside living room’s walls of glass provide panoramic views mountain and valley views.

Over the Edge was previously used as a luxury vacation home rental and corporate retreat space. It’s now freshly renovated and is still capable of hosting large groups, though minus the personal concierge and catered meals that came with the high-priced rental. The home is set back off a main road with an eye-catching stone-accented façade that displays contrasting materials and a wide arched entrance. Custom light fixtures, such as one found in the central spiral staircase, add character, while a total of six fireplaces help keep residents and guests toasty even during the coldest nights and fiercest snow storms.

The formal living room, which is connected to a sunroom, places one of the wood-burning fireplaces next to ample seating space, and a nearby patio is ideal for taking in the view and the fresh Rocky Mountain air. The gourmet kitchen also sits on the main floor, with Wolf and SubZero appliances, and the numerous places to enjoy meals range from the breakfast nook to a formal dining area with a bar for group entertaining and quiet nightcaps.

The primary and junior suites are both situated on the second level. The former includes a fireplace and en-suite bathroom with separate sink spaces, a shower, and a soaking tub. A floor above the bedroom suites, a rooftop deck has a gas fireplace and panoramic vistas. The lowest level of the home is ready for action and features a two-story gym, a sports simulator, a climbing wall, and a theater for entertainment. And, of course, there’s a ski room for storing gear.

The home’s many comforts and conveniences continue outdoors, where a heated swimming pool, cold plunge, and dry sauna can be used to recover from a thrilling day on the slopes.
